The process of book stocking of LTC began simultaneously with the foundation of the IBI in 1991. The first book stock of the LTC consisted of the books in management, marketing, accounting and banking donated by the libraries of US Congress, Chartered Banking Institute (UK) and Stockholm University.

Present the book stock is being replenished in accordance with the content of the IBI’s various syllabuses and its students’ information needs in close agreement with the curricula of the Institute’s departments (chairs).

The book stock of the LTC runs to 60,000 items, with 80 per cent of them being scientific publications, study texts, textbooks, summaries of scientific conferences and abstracts of dissertations.

The significant part of the book stock is in English, General, French and Spanish.

The reference and bibliography book stock consists of universal and specialized encyclopedia, reference books, dictionaries of foreign languages, dictionaries of terms, abstracts journals in economics, etc.

The annual LTC subscription for periodic publications exceeds 70 items. They include central and local nears-papers and magazines and special publications in Russian, English, German and French covering the subjects taught in the IBI.

The number the LTC readers is over 2,400people. These are IBI undergraduate, post graduate and Lyceum students, lecturers trainers and staff.

Nine state-of-the-art computers are available for the students’ self-study with free access into internet.

For its readers the LTC has stands exhibiting IBI new publications, books and journals on regular basis.

With the introduction as of September 1,2005 of automatic library system “IRBIS”, the LTC started servicing its readers electronically, i. e. they can search for book and then order them though an electronic catalogue accessible from any computer connected to the Internet. For the moment the above catalogue contains about 4,000 entries with detailed bibliographical data for all items of the book stock.
