The origination of the Centre – Luxemburg Atrium named after professor V.N. Veniaminov, the first President of the IBI, Honored Consul of Grand Duchy of Luxemburg for St. Petersburg and Veliky Novgorod – is one of the fundamentals in the realization of the Mission and Strategy of the IBI. The Centre was set up to equip the scientific and educational processes with the state – of-the-art technical and these to create for the students and teachers the complacent computerized environment instrumental for high quality specialists traning.

The Centre equipped with powerful workstations interconnected into local area network (LAN) serviced by high performance servers.

The Centre enjoys a high speed access to the internet.
It provides its users with the personal access to the information resources of the Institute by means of the Library Information Centre by means of the software IRBIS Communication channels and available equipment make it possible to regularly a mange tele-conferences and transmit them on-line in the Internet.

IBI students having at their disposal eight computers class-rooms equipped with 136 work-stations are favoured with the most suitable conditions for going into all segments of computers and information studies, starting form their fundamentals and embracing their, applied aspects in relation to such subjects as banking , finance, stock market, management, marketing, etc.

The process is endorsed not only with the very productive hard-and software tailor-made for every subject studied but also with the most effective educational technologies related with application of interactive educational environment called VUOKSA – the special programmed developed by the Institute’s researches covering multimedia presentations for lutures and work-shops, simulation games, business computer games, etc.

After launching the Centre the Institute ranks first by number of computers per a student among the establishments of higher education in St.Petersburg.
During Their period of self-study the students are provided with the free access to the Centre’s information resources, including free Internet, their own educational resource on the Centre’s server for the whole period of studies and their own e-mail addresses.
The Centre serves as a core point for the students to have their computer training period resulting in creating their own professional web-sites , it provides them with subject content for writing their course papers and then printing them and finally it helps them to produce their own information products related with the subject matter of the diploma papers.
The Centre serves as the Institute’s educational basis providing for students comprehensive interdisciplinary computer training.
The Institute IT Centre was established with the help and support of the Gaverment and business community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

- Automatisation of study process;
- Automatisation of the Institute’s departments and deans officers’ work;
- Automatisation of business processes with in the Institute;
- Creating the Institute’s corporate system and its servicing;
- Developing and servicing the software for the Instute’s departments and deans offices.
